Richard Gray is a partner in the New York office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy and a member of the firm’s Leveraged Finance Group. He has been a lawyer with the firm since 1981 and a partner since 1990. Currently resident in New York, Mr. Gray has previously resided in the firm's offices in Hong Kong (2000-2002), Singapore (1998-2000) and London (1985-1988).
Primary Focus & Experience
Mr. Gray has focused on banking transactions as a primary area of concentration for 30 years. He has broad experience in US domestic and international financial transactions, representing both lenders and borrowers, in acquisition and other leveraged financings, workouts, project finance, securitizations and other structured financings.
Recognition & Accomplishments
Mr. Gray is a frequent speaker and author on banking and related matters, and his writings have been published by the Loan Syndications & Trading Association, International Financial Law Review and Butterworths Journal of International Banking and Financial Law (for which he serves as a member of the Editorial Board). He was a co-author of The LSTA’s Complete Credit Agreement Guide (2009), which was awarded the Burton Award for legal writing.
He has been recognized by Chambers as a leading banking and finance lawyer in the United States and for Latin America and is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, where he as served as a member of the Asian Affairs Committee and the Foreign and Comparative Law Committee.
