Peter D. Nesgos

Peter Nesgos is a partner in the New York office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy.  Mr. Nesgos has more than twenty-five years of experience working with the aerospace and communications industries and the financial and insurance communities in structuring commercial space and satellite projects.  He joined Milbank as a partner in 1999.

Primary Focus & Experience

Mr. Nesgos focuses primarily on representing financial institutions and aerospace and communications companies in project financing, asset-based lending, joint ventures, public offerings and private placements involving the space business.  He structures purchase and services contracts for the manufacture, launch and operation of satellite systems and advises insurance, aerospace and satellite companies and government agencies in managing risks in commercial space activities.

His recent representations involve satellite projects such as:

• Iridium Communications, NEXT second generation satellite constellation
• O3b Networks, advanced broadband satellite network
• Hughes Network Systems, follow-on generation Jupiter satellite system
• Asia Broadcast Satellite, ABS satellite procurement and financing
• LightSquared, nationwide terrestrial broadband mobile network

• Intelsat, satellite system risk management and insurance

Recognition & Accomplishments

Mr. Nesgos is a frequent organizer and panel moderator of various space and communications conferences and is the author of the chapter titled “Satellites and Transponders” in the text on Equipment Leasing published by Matthew Bender & Company.  He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at McGill University’s Faculty of Law.
