Miguel Ruiz is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy and a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group.
Primary Focus & Experience
Mr. Ruiz’s practice focuses on patent litigation, particularly litigation related to technologies in the computer industry. Mr. Ruiz has litigated cases in both state and federal courts throughout California and in front of the International Trade Commission. He also advises clients regarding intellectual property issues in a variety of transactions.
Recognition & Accomplishments
Mr. Ruiz received his B.A., summa cum laude, from Arizona State University. He earned his J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) and obtained a certificate in Law and Technology. Prior to law school, Mr. Ruiz worked in the IT Department of the Arizona Lottery, developing back end software for the agency’s intranet.
Mr. Ruiz is active in the community as a member of the American Intellectual Property Association, American Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association, Hispanic National Bar Association and Mexican American Bar Association. In addition, Mr. Ruiz serves on the Board of Directors of Uncommon Good, a non-profit organization that assists public interest doctors in repaying their student loans.
