Mel Immergut is Chairman of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. He has been a partner in the firm’s Corporate Group since 1980 and Chairman of the firm since 1995.
Primary Focus & Experience
Mr. Immergut has extensive experience in a wide variety of corporate governance, board advisory and transactional work, including M&A transactions, financing transactions and leveraged leasing. He is responsible for, among other clients, the firm’s representation of Anheuser-Busch, Astoria Financial, Cushman and Wakefield, MasterCard, NASCAR, Sovereign Bancorp, Tyson Foods and William E. Simon and Sons.
Recognition & Accomplishments
Mr. Immergut received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. and M.B.A. from Columbia University. He serves as a Trustee and Past-President of the American College of Investment Counsel, a Trustee of The Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration, Inc. and past President of The Billfish Foundation. Mr. Immergut is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and a Fellow of the New York Bar Foundation. He serves as Vice Chairman and as a Trustee of the Legal Aid Society and on the Columbia Law School Board of Visitors.
Mr. Immergut also serves as a member of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation Advisory Council, the Partnership for New York City and the Council on Foreign Relations. Additionally, he is a member of the United States European Command Advisory Panel and a former member of the United States Southern Command Advisory Panel. Mr. Immergut is Vice Chairman and a Trustee of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, and serves on the Defense Business Board of the United States Department of Defense. He is a recipient of The Jewish Theological Seminary Simon H. Rifkind Award.
