Martin Erhardt is a partner in the Munich office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, a member of the firm’s Corporate Group and part of the team that founded the Munich office in 2004.
Primary Focus & Experience
Mr. Erhardt has broad experience in M&A transactions, corporate advisory work and insolvency law. He has advised numerous listed companies on acquisitions and divestitures and on the formation of joint ventures. He also regularly represents clients on restructuring matters.
Mr. Erhardt’s recent major transactions include providing legal advice to:
- ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG on the sale of its Dutch and Belgian TV and print operations to a consortium of international media companies led by Sanoma Corporation.
- SIXT AG on the establishment of the “Drive Now” car sharing joint venture with BMW Group.
- SES Astra S.A. on the divestiture of a majority participation in ND SatCom GmbH to EADS and the conclusion of a shareholder’s agreement with EADS.
- Axel Springer on the creation of a joint venture with Swiss publishing house Ringier relating to their activities in Eastern Europe.
- MAN SE on the sale of MAN Ferrostaal AG to International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC).
- ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG on the takeover of the pan-European TV, radio and print conglomerate SBS Broadcasting Group.
- MAN SE on the formation of an international steel trading joint venture with CCC Steel KG and Groupo Villacero
- The creditor’s committee of Lehman Brothers Holdings, Inc. on German law aspects of the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy case.

Deutsche Bank New York on the restructuring of the Metzeler Automotive Group.
Recognition & Accomplishments
Mr. Erhardt is recommended for corporate law and M&A in the German directory JUVE Handbuch, Legal 500 Germany and Chambers Europe, where he also is listed as “up and coming” in M&A. He is also recognized in IFLR 1000 for restructuring and insolvency in Germany.
He studied law at the universities of Bayreuth, Heidelberg and the New York University School of Law. He holds a doctorate degree (Dr. jur.) from the University of Heidelberg and post-graduate degree from the New York University School of Law (LL.M.).
Mr. Erhardt is admitted to practice law in Germany and the state of New York, USA, and speaks German and English.
