Mark Shinderman has been a partner at Milbank since 2009. He is a member of the firm's Financial Restructuring Group.
Primary Focus & Experience
Mr. Shinderman has extensive experience in restructurings and corporate reorganizations--restructuring companies inside and outside of bankruptcy, directing bankruptcy-related litigation, and handling the purchase of assets out of bankruptcy. He often represents creditors’ committees, purchasers of assets from troubled companies, key vendors, and other important constituents in insolvency situations. He also has represented numerous clients involved in litigation and transactions in which the counterparty may be in financial distress, helping the clients mitigate potential bankruptcy risks.
His recent representations include: official creditors committees of Local Insight, Lake Las Vegas, Idearc; senior lenders and stalking horse bidder of Blockbuster; special servicer of MSR Golf Resort; ad hoc committees of creditors in out-of-court restructurings of Accuride, Ashton Woods, and American Capital; and special counsel to Adelphia Communications. Mr. Shinderman also represents Fortune 500 companies, bondholders, and hedge funds throughout the country.
Mr. Shinderman is a member of the Board of Directors of Students Run L.A., a nonprofit organization committed to serving at-risk youth in Los Angeles. He previously served as Board President for five (5) years. Mr. Shinderman is also a member of the California Bar, Los Angeles Bar, American Bankruptcy Institute and Financial Lawyers Conference. For the last 15 years, he has served as a mediator in the Los Angeles Bankruptcy Court's pro bono mediation program.

He has been recognized as one of the leading lawyers in America for bankruptcy law by Best Lawyers In America, Chambers USA and California Super Lawyers. Mr. Shinderman is a frequent lecturer at bankruptcy and distressed investing conferences throughout the country and has authored numerous articles on bankruptcy-related issues. His chapter on out-of-court restructurings was recently published in Best Practices For Distressed Company Workouts.
