Larry Kass is a partner in the New York office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy and a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Group.

Primary Focus & Experience

Mr. Kass has extensive experience in all IP aspects of corporate and technology transactions, as well as litigation, prosecution, and client counseling, across a broad range of industries and technologies, including alternative/renewable energy, chemistry, flat panel manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, optics, software and semiconductors.

Recognitions & Accomplishments

Mr. Kass has authored numerous articles appearing in the National Law Journal, North American Clean Energy, the New York Law Journal, the American Intellectual Property Law Association Quarterly Journal, the BNA Patent, Trademark and Copyright Journal, Law360 and the Pace Law Review. His articles address a wide range of intellectual property issues with a focus on certain technologies, such as renewable energy and software. He is a frequent lecturer and has been a leader in several intellectual property bar associations, including as chair of two committees for the Federal Circuit Bar Association and as amicus liaison for the Emerging Technologies and Chemical Practice committees of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.

Prior to law school, Mr. Kass applied his technical education and worked as a Research Scientist and Development Engineer at Union Carbide/Universal Oil Products (UOP). In that capacity he developed various processes to develop cleaner fuels and to reduce automobile emissions. He was awarded several patents for his innovations.

Before joining Milbank, Mr. Kass served as Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Alvin A. Schall at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
