James Warbey is a partner in the London office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, is a member of the firm’s Alternative Investments Practice and leads the English law capital markets and derivatives practices in London.
Primary Focus & Experience
James' practice areas encompass international capital markets (EMTN and stand-alone), securitisations and structured finance transactions.
James has acted for issuers, arrangers and investors on numerous listed and unlisted structured capital markets transactions across the full product spectrum, including synthetic transactions. He has considerable experience in relation to asset securitisation with a wide range of asset classes, including residential mortgages, commercial property, auto-loans, leases, consumer loans and swap receivables originated across Europe.
In addition, James has extensive familiarity with a full range of derivative documentation and practice, the development of new products and the use of collateral techniques to manage risk in derivative transactions. He has advised extensively in relation to the development of equity and credit derivative products as well as insurance-related derivatives, advising a number of leading financial institutions and end-users who are active in this area. James' practice also includes advising in relation to stock lending and repos, both in the domestic UK market and in international transactions.
