James Cameron is a partner in Milbank's London office, a member of the firm’s Transportation and Space Finance Group and leads the firm’s European practice. He specialises in structured and asset finance.

Primary Focus & Experience

Mr. Cameron has extensive experience in acting for the principal transportation and asset financing banks, lessors, manufacturers, operators and arrangers on a variety of asset leasing and financing transactions involving aircraft, ships, oil rigs, rolling-stock, power turbines and other moveable equipment.

He has advised clients on the full range of structures including M&A, capital markets transactions, securitisation, finance and operating leasing, structured tax-based financings, export-credit transactions, restructurings, securitisation, portfolio transactions such as leasing company acquisitions, asset portfolio sales and purchases, joint ventures, Islamic financing projects and default and restructuring.

Recent transactions on which Mr. Cameron has acted include:

  • Acting for Investec on the financing of a portfolio of aircraft acquired by Investec Global Aircraft Fund
  • Acting for Goldman Sachs as underwriting counsel on the sale of RBS' Aircraft Loan Book
  • Acting for EDC on the financing of a portfolio of aircraft for Nordic Aviation Capital
  • Acting for Bank of America on its acquisition and financing of five tankers
  • Acting for Investec on the acquisition of Masterlease, General Motors' car leasing business

Mr. Cameron has lectured on the subject of asset and aircraft finance, and has had articles published in various industry journals. He is also mentioned in Chambers UK, Legal 500 and Legal Experts.
