Daniel J. Michalchuk is a partner in the New York office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy  and a member of the firm’s Project Finance Group. 

Primary Focus & Experience

Mr. Michalchuk has represented project sponsors and financial institutions in numerous domestic and international project financings and in projects across various industries.

His recent experience includes representation of the institutional investors in the Hudson Transmission Project; an equity investor in the rooftop solar inverted lease program to be implemented by OneRoof Energy; the lenders in the Sentinel power project in California; Itochu in its investment in the Drummond Company; the lenders in the EquiPower power portfolio financing; the lenders in the financing of the Mirant Marsh Landing power project in California; Iridium in the financing of the NEXT satellite constellation; the lenders in the Similco copper mine in British Columbia; KGen in the sale of the Sandersville power project and in the acquisition of its portfolio from Duke; First Solar in the development and sale of the Blythe solar project in California to NRG; Marubeni in its investment in certain Invenergy power projects; MACH Gen in the sale of the Covert project to Tenaska and in the recapitalization of its power portfolio; the lenders in the financing of the Manzanillo LNG facility in Mexico; the lenders in the development of a titanium melting and rolling facility in the U.S.; the lenders in the financing of the Bosque power plant in Texas; a noteholder in the Invenergy Wind financing; the lenders in the development financings of several petrochemical projects in Trinidad; the lenders in the refinancing of the Boston Generating power portfolio; the sponsors in the development and financing of the PDET project in Brazil; and the borrower in the project financing of the Ibirité Power Project in Brazil.

Recognition & Accomplishments

Mr. Michalchuk received a B.A. from Queen’s University, Canada, an M.A. in International Relations from Carleton University, Canada, an LL.B. from University of Ottawa, Canada and an LL.M. in International and Comparative Law from Georgetown University Law Center.
